Middle school has been a difficult journey full of academic success, laughter, and tears. 6th grade, is where my journey began. I started off slowly, taking my first steps and then throughout the months, I mastered walking. 7th grade was a time where opportunities came knocking on my door. I grasped onto the knowledge that I was taught, knowing more than I did before. My 8th grade year started with a subtle realization that I was now a leader of the school, but I still had yet to learn and to grow. One thing is undeniable, I would not be here today without all of the support of the amazing staff, teachers, my family and my best friends. They have all made me realize that I am stronger than I thought I was. They have all helped me with my struggles and encouraged me to become a better person. Throughout middle school, I took chances that changed my experience at Mendez. I took the chance to say “Hi” to the person sitting beside me in language arts. I started to get out of my comfort zone as the years passed. I started dancing at the dances, I spoke out more in class and I took the chance to tell people how I really felt. I experienced the first fight with my close friends. I started pushing myself, creating higher goals and standards in life and because of that decision I experienced true achievement in life. Thank you for everything Mendez!
